INTRODUCTION

This term paper of “Fundamentals of Transportation Processes and Systems Theory” course is intended for studying the fundamentals of transportation process and operations in cargo transportation. During term paper we get skills of calculating the basic parameters of transportation processes and systems.

The object of research is to gain skills in management of transportation processes.  The subject of the research is transshipment operations for specified transport modes.

Purpose of investigation: to research and describe the main notion and concepts of transportation optimization, their practical application, considering two crossing transport mode during the whole time from supplier to.

Objectives of investigation:

•     to research and consider the general matter of investigation:  concepts, notions, processes;
• to study the practical solutions of the given problem;
•     to make ground calculations, which show the accuracy in forming the right conclusions and justify our predictions;
•     to develop a methodological recommendations and suggestion for practical implementation of the investigation results.

There are two parts in this term paper: the theoretical part and the computation part. The first one is formalized as a report which includes theoretical information, the conclusions and the references. The second one has the following framework of research: input information, formulas, research-related computations, patterns for intermodal cargo loading-unloading; warehouse scheme, conclusions. Copying with these tasks gives us an opportunity to try ourselves in analyzing the efficiency of the transportation process in industrial transport systems.
